The Luggin Capillary positions the reference electrode tip close to the working electrode surface. Drawing the sensing point near the interface reduces the uncompensated solution resistance included in a potential measurement, which improves the accuracy of the recorded working-electrode potential. The probe is offered in a regular and an extended size so it can be matched to the cell and electrode arrangement.
